After Kirk became First Officer of the USS Farragut,Carol Marcus was stationed at Starbase 1, and she later became one of the Federation’s top scientists.Kirk knew of Carol’s pregnancy, and it was Carol who made the decision to raise their son David on her own away from Kirk.

Although Leto only got a small amount of screen time, he followed in his mother’s footsteps by becoming a Starfleet Captain. As Leto transported his mother to Federation Headquarters for her last mission aboard the USS Discovery, he shared his worries about becoming a captain.Burnham ensured her son that he would make a great captain,telling him that he and his crew would eventually become a family. Michael Burnham managed to have an incredibly successful career and build a life with her family, a feat fewStar TrekCaptains have been able to achieve.
