Posted to X (formerly Twitter), userCohhCarnagenoted thatFromSoftware has confirmed that players must at least defeat Mohg, Lord of Blood inElden Ringto accessShadow of the Erdtree,a milestone most users have yet to surpass.

They point out that based on global achievement tracking,only 37.8% on players on Steam have managed to defeat the aformentioned Demigod, meaning that a whopping 62.2% of the community on PC hasn’t progressed to the point where they’ll be able to play the expansion. This statistic prompted Bandai Namco to issue a call to arms, noting that fans have under two weeks to prepare.

It’s generally difficult to provide a timeline for completetion inElden Ring, but the majority of players will encounter Mohg just past the half-way mark, so there’s still a decent chunk of the game left to complete.

As for Mohg, it’s no wonder why so many players never managed toovercome the fearsome boss. He’s a brutal encounter, one that’s able to string together some brutal combos that are often enough to completely annihilate The Tarnished’s health in a single sequence. It also makes sense thathe’ll need to be defeated before playingShadow of the Erdtreegiven his personal connection to Miquella,who will play a key role in the expansion.

Should those who never managed to slay Mohg pick upElden Ringagain to prepare forShadow of the Erdtree, there’s a good chance the next month or so of theirlives will be consumed by the experience.FromSoftware has stated that the expansion’s scale is massive and it’ll introduce a location that’s roughly the size of Limgrave, one of the base game’s largest locations. It will also feature10 new boss fightsthat will likely be some of the game’s most challenging encounter yet.
