Summary
Fallout 4players looking to bringa little more real-world historyinto their game shouldcheck out this mod which brings a tragic landmark into the Commonwealth Wasteland. While Bethesda placed a great deal of time and effort into constructing the world of its massive post-apocalyptic RPG, there were obvious constraints which meant not everything could be true to life. Fortunately, thanks to modders with a keen understanding of the past, some iconic locations which didn’t make it into the game can finally get their moment in the sun.
Such is the case with creatorsTenhats and Shreddah4’s “Boon Island” add-on, which is available on Nexus Mods, that adds the titular island toFallout 4as a part of the “Isles of New England” location. The small landmass, which is home to a spooky lighthouse, is built to resemble the actual island that sits off the coast of Maineand includes a lore-friendly side-quest for the Sole Survivor to complete. It also features several points of “immersive repairs” so players can feel the satisfaction of bringing the lighthouse back to life.

One Fallout 4 Feature Could Have A Major Impact On The Franchise’s Future
Fallout 4 expanded on an interesting concept and put it front and center of the game, but will future games and TV series expand on it?
Boon Island’s Tragic History
A Bleak Story For A Bleak World
While the addition of Boon Island to Boston’s coastline may not be entirely accurate in a geographical sense, its implementation certainly fitsFallout 4’s world and themes. The lighthouse is known for several signifciant tragedies, including entire shipwrecks, butperhaps the most infamous is the crash of the Nottingham Galley in 1710which saw the entire crew marooned for three weeks as they waited to be rescued. They eventually ran out of food, resorting to cannibalism to survive.
The Nottingham Galley wreck is one of the core reasons why a lighthouse was ultimately built upon Boon Island and while nothing as severe as aforementioned wreck ever happened again, it didn’t stop others from crashing into the landmass. In the years following the lighthouses' construction, several more ships managed to run aground underneath its watch. This has led to rumors that the island itself is cursed.

The addition of Boon Island toFallout 4isn’t just a fantastic addition for history buffs or urban legend enthusiasts, the mod itself is simply a fine piece of work. With unique animations and custom textures, it’s a lovingly recreated world space that will no doubt appeal to userslooking to makethe Commonwealth’s coastline a little more interesting. Best keep thoseeyes peeled for any spooky activity…
