In a recent interview, Adil El Arbi teased thatBad Boys 5, while unconfirmed, could “go international” and visit London, Paris, or Asia.

TheRide or Dieco-writer raised the possibility of a fifth film visiting Southeast Asia, Europe, or maybe the Middle East. Read his full comments below:

Bad Boys Ride or Die Movie Poster

My opinion is worth very little, but I actually think Southeast Asia could be a really interesting area for the Bad Boys to explore. It has tropical elements like Miami that they’ve come to appreciate. Europe could be cool, too. I feel like we’ve been to parts of Latin America. We could continue to go there, but it feels like the fresh territory might be Southeast Asia, Europe, or something like that. Maybe the Middle East. That’d be very cool, too.

While theBad Boysmoviesare set mostly in Miami, the sequels have traveled to other settings. After the first film was set entirely in the city, the two sequels have left Miami and visited various locations in Latin Americato keep the franchise feeling fresh. InBad Boys II, Marcus and Mike travel to Cuba on a mission to save Syd, who was taken hostage by the drug kingpin Tapia, ultimately ending up outside of Guantanamo Bay.

InBad Boys for Life, Marcus and Mike’s mission leads to Mexico City to confront Isabel at the Hidalgo Palace. Though it’s unclear where the upcoming installment will visit next,Bad Boys: Ride or Diewill likely continue the sequel’s trend of Marcus and Mike’s mission taking them outside Miami for the final third-act climax. The fourth film does find the late Captain Howard being posthumously accused of working with the Romanian Mafia, so Marcus and Mike’s investigation could lead them to the southeastern European country.

TheBad Boys: Ride or Diecastincludes Martin Lawrence, Will Smith, Joe Pantoliano, Vanessa Hudgens, Alexander Ludwig, Paola Núñez, Jacob Scipio, DJ Khaled, Tasha Smith, Eric Dane, Ioan Gruffudd, Rhea Seehorn, Melanie Liburd and Tiffany Haddish.

ThoughBad Boys 5is still unconfirmed, and likely dependent onRide or Die’s performance at the box office, El Arbi’s idea for going international is a great way to keep the franchise feeling fresh. Southeast Asia could be an interesting area for the fourth film to explore, as Bremner says, since it has similar tropical elements as Miami that audiences have come to associate withBad Boys. The movies have already visited Latin America multiple times, soBad Boys 5would be better off exploring new locations in order to keep the franchise feeling fresh.

Bad Boys: Ride or Diereleases in theaterson June 7.
