10 Batman Movie Rumors Debunked By James Gunn

With a Batman reboot film for the new DCU and Robert Pattinson’s The Batman - Part II on the way, James Gunn has debunked several movie rumors.

How Old Will Batman Be In The DCU?

There Are Some Clues

While not saying that Batman will be a couple of years older than Superman, Gunn’s past comments mention that could happen. With Gunn not tied to Batman and Superman being the same age, a Bruce Wayne who is older than Clark Kent would make sense for the DCU. The DCU’s Superman actor, David Corenswet, is 30 years old. Gunn has confirmed that Superman will be the same age as Corenswet in the DCU.

With Superman being 30, it would be okay for Batman to be in his late 30s or early 40s. The character certainly cannot be younger than Corenswet’s Superman, as a key detail fromThe Brave and the Boldwould make that impossible. The DCU’s Batman movie will feature Damian Wayne, Bruce’s biological son, who is the fourth male Robin in the comics, as well as other members of the Bat-Family. In order to have a fully functional Bat-Family, Batman would need to be in his late 30s at least.

That would allow for one of the most popular Batman fancasts for the DCU to happen. Among the fan-favorites to play Batman in the DCU are Jensen Ackles, Alan Ritchson, and Jake Gyllenhaal. All three actors are in their 40s, making them perfect for a Batman who is the leader of an established Bat-Family in the DCU. Nightwing could be the second-oldest character in the Bat-Family, with Dick Grayson in his 20s, making him Robin when the DCU’sBatmanwas at the start of his career.

The Brave and the Bold

The Brave and the Bold will introduce audiences to a new Batman in the DC Universe, focusing on the unique dynamic between the Dark Knight and his son, Damian Wayne, who takes on the mantle of Robin. This film marks yet another reboot for the iconic vigilante superhero.
