Battlefield 6 is “hiding” this game mode so you don’t play it

Battlefield 6’s latestbeta weekendsparked outrage after players claimed one of its most divisive features was quietly tucked out of sight.

Battlefield 6 lets you choose between Closed Weapons, which lock guns to specific classes for clear roles but less flexibility, and Open Weapons, which let any class use any gun for creative loadouts but can weaken class identity. Both are available in official playlists and have passionate defenders.

This setup should make it easy to find your preferred style, especially through the game’s Custom Search tool. But that’s not the reality right now.

Players say DICE buried Closed Weapons mode in BF6

During the second beta weekend, players noticed that the Closed Weapons playlist isn’t listed inCustom Searchat all. To access it, you have to scroll all the way to the far right of the main playlist menu. Many casual players wouldn’t even know it exists.

“Hard to not think it’s malicious,” oneReddit postread.Anotheraccused DICE of “starving it out until it no longer exists.” Others speculated the move was about money, arguing that fewer weapon classes mean fewer skin sales. One fanjust said it plainly: “The language and positioning is aimed to get as little people playing it.”

Closed Weapon mode

The criticism boils down to visibility and perception. Fans who prefer Closed Weapons feel they’re being sidelined in favor of the more flexible Open Weapons system. Some believe EA and DICE will use low engagement data to justify removing the mode entirely.

It’s not the only point of contention this weekend. The second Battlefield 6 beta addedRushand daily map rotations, but fans felt Rush was a stripped-down version of past games. These changes may or may not stick, but for now, the fight over Closed Weapons has become the beta’s loudest talking point.
