This, in turn, raises one’s curiosity about how the show will wrap up so many mind-bending story developments in one episode. Genius Dark Matter Theory Has The Perfect Setup For The Apple TV+ Show’s Season 2

While Dark Matter’s future after season 1 may be uncertain, a genius theory surrounding 2 characters in the Apple TV+ show perfectly sets up season 2.

Did Daniela & Charlie Find The Original Jason1 In Dark Matter Episode 8’s Ending?

The Jason Says The Correct Safe Word But He Could Still Be A Variant

InDark Matterepisode 8’s final arc, Daniela and Charlie manage to escape Jason2 after one of the Jasons tells Daniela what is happening in their world. However, to their surprise, they end up in another alternate Jason’s car, who tells Daniela he has not seen her since the night he was kidnapped by Jason2. Realizing this is not the Jason she talked to at the police station, Daniela asks him to pull over. However, before he can, another Jason rams into their car with his vehicle, requesting Daniela to join him.

When Daniela had rescued the Jason from the police station earlier in the episode, he had asked her to come up with a safe word that would help her ensure she was with the right variant. The safe word Daniela chose was “Jupiter.” InDark Matterepisode 8’s ending scene, Daniela and Charlie meet a version of Jason who correctly says the safe word, affirming that he is the Jason Daniela previously met at the police station. However, Daniela can still not help but be suspicious about whether they are with the OG Jason or another alternate variant of him.

How So Many Jasons Ended Up In The Same World

They Are All A Consequence Of Jason1’s Choices

According toDark Matter’s portrayal of parallel worlds,a new variant of Jason1 is created every time he makes a crucial choice. For instance, Jason1 and Jason2 were the same person until Jason1 decided to sacrifice his career to stay with Charlie and Daniela. Jason1’s decision to stay with his wife created an alternate timeline where he did not make the same decision. The timeline where he took the “road not taken” created an alternate version of him, Jason2. Similarly, after being abducted, every time Jason1 made a choice inside The Box, he created multiple parallel versions of himself.

While the exact number of alternate Jasons out there is unknown, there are probably millions (if not more) of them lurking in parallel worlds somewhere.

Since he had made many complex choices in his pursuit to return to his universe and find Daniela, Jason1 likely created infinitely many alternate versions of himself. His alternate versions also made their individual decisions, leading to the creation of more copies. While the exact number of alternate Jasons out there is unknown, there are probably millions (if not more) of them lurking in parallel worlds somewhere. Some likely even perished inside The Box during their quest to return to their original universe. Meanwhile, a few hundred of them, like the original Jason1, managed to make it back.

Since all of them were once the OG Jason1 before Jason2 uprooted his life, they are all driven by the same goal: kill Jason2 and reunite with their family. However, since all of them now want Daniela and Charlie to stay with them, who truly deserves to have them back is debatable. Given how they are all technically Jason1, it is also worth questioningwhether being with either will be any different for Daniela and Charlie.

How Does Dark Matter’s Interdimensional Travel Work? The Science Behind The Box Explained

Apple TV+’s Dark Matter uses real scientific concepts to craft its interdimensional travel, but how does Jason’s “Box” work in the show?

How Jason1 Will Protect Daniela & Charlie From So Many Alternate Jasons

Jason, Daniela, & Charlie Can Travel To Another World To Save Themselves

Although Daniela and Charlie ultimately meet the “Jupiter” Jason towardsDark Matterepisode 8’s ending, they still cannot be sure whether he is the OG Jason. Given how nearly all the returning Jasons were once Jason1, does it even matter who they eventually end up with? Assuming that “Jupiter” Jason is the one they will choose to stay with, the three could simply travel to another world through The Box and then block its entrance before the other Jasons can catch up.

Since multiple versions of Daniela and Charlie also exist in several similar parallel universes, how can the original Jason1 be so sure that he is in the right world?

However, after episode 8’s ending, it is hard not to trust any character’s identity. Since multiple versions of Daniela and Charlie also exist in several similar parallel universes, how can the original Jason1 be so sure he is in the right world? Owing to this, it seems like the ideal solution to the Jason overpopulation problem would be toconvince every Jason to get back inside The Box and go to a parallel world similar to the original Jason1 universe. This way, every Jason would end up with a similar version of Daniela and Charlie without disturbing another Jason’s world.

What Dark Matter Episode 8’s Ending Means For Season 1’s Finale

The Multiverse Madness In Dark Matter’s Finale Will Be Even More Confusing

Considering how Ryan1 and Amanda may also return to the OG universe inDark Matter’s season 1 finale after the episode 7 setup, the finale is going to be absolutely chaotic with many alternate versions of various characters lurking in the same universe. Since so many variants of the same character cannot co-exist in the same world, many characters will likely find themselves returning to The Box to find a universe where they can finally be alone. Since Apple TV+Dark Matterstill has many more mind-bending stories to tell and mysteries to solve, the finale will likely pave the way for season 2 with another cliffhanger.

Dark Matterseason 1’s finale will be released on Apple TV+ on July 02, 2025.
