Warning! Contains spoilers for Apple TV+’s Dark Matter.

Summary

Dark Matterepisode 8 presents a compelling Jason twist, which makes it hard not to wonder how it could further complicate a character return theory. InDark Matterepisode 7, Jason1 and Amanda parted ways after Amanda found a perfect utopian world to settle in. Although Amanda asked Jason1 not to leave her with any ampules of the central drug, Jason1 defied her and dropped two ampules. While this plot detail seemed trivial, it was hard not to wonder if it would have any future implications in the show’s storyline because of its differences compared to the source material.

Also, since the utopian worlds Amanda and Ryan1 end up in seemed a little too similar, many viewers could not help but theorize they would run into one another and use the two ampules to return to Jason1’s original universe. With one more episode left for theApple TV+ sci-fi showto conclude season 1, this plot development could still happen. However, the arrival of multiple Jasons in the same universe inDark Matterepisode 8can further complicate this theory.

Genius Dark Matter Theory Has The Perfect Setup For The Apple TV+ Show’s Season 2

While Dark Matter’s future after season 1 may be uncertain, a genius theory surrounding 2 characters in the Apple TV+ show perfectly sets up season 2.

Dark Matter Episode 8 Suggests Multiple Amandas & Ryans Should Return To Jason1’s World

The Show’s Complex Portrayal Of Multiverses Could Become Even More Baffling

InDark Matterepisode 8, many Jasons end up in the OG Jason1 universe, revealing that a new parallel version of Jason1 spawned every time Jason1 made a crucial decision in The Box. Since all “spawned” Jasons were originally Jason1, they, too, share the same goal of returning to their original universe to reunite with Daniela and Charlie. However, since a new parallel version of a character is created every time the character makes a major decision inDark Matter’s universe,Ryan1 and Amanda should also have infinitely many alternate-universe variants.

Many of these variants of Amanda would also have two ampules of the drug left with them, allowing them to travel back to Jason1’s OG universe with Ryan1.

Just like Jason1’s multiple variants made it back to the original universe to find Daniela and Charlie, many parallel versions of Ryan1 and Amanda should also cross paths in various alternate realities. Many of these variants of Amanda would also have two ampules of the drug left with them, allowing them to travel back to Jason1’s OG universe with Ryan1. Owing to this, not just one but many versions of Amanda and Ryan1 should eventually appear in the original Jason1 universe inDark Matterseason 1’s finale.

How This Multiverse Twist Would Impact Dark Matter’s Story

The Twist Would Significantly Change The Show From Its Source Material

Amanda and Ryan1 are not as significant in the originalBlake CrouchDark Matterbookas they are in the show. Therefore, their return in the show’s finale would not only perfectly set up season 2 but also change the book’s storyline. Amanda and Ryan1’s return would also serve as proof that many similar parallel universes exist where the other versions of Jason1 can visit to reunite with Daniela and Charlie. This could eventuallysolve the problem of so many Jasons pursuing the same version of Daniela and Charlie. However, with so many potential baffling plot developments, it is hard not to wonder howDark Matterwill conclude its story.
