How To Get The Ergo Sum Exotic
Complete a New Questline
Like with all non-season-pass exotics inThe Final Shape, you have to finish the campaign before you can begin to unlock Ergo Sum.After you’ve finished the seven story missionsTFS’scampaign has to offer, head back to the old Tower in the Pale Heart to talk to Ghost. He will give you a new quest titled “Destined Heroes,” which you’ll need to complete to get your first Ergo Sum. For a visual walkthrough, watchKackis HD’s video on YouTube.
This quest has nine steps, but there is a lot to do for each step. You’ve just unlocked the Pale Heart as a patrol zone, so this quest will help you familiarize yourself with the area.Ensure you interact with the radio and listen to what it says before heading outto complete the first step of the quest, “Queens, Part 1.”

Ergo Sum Exotic Quest: Queens, Part 1
For the first part of “Destined Heroes,” you’ll be immediately greeted by a Hive Knight. Defeat it, and it will drop a relic sword you can pick up. Using this sword, you’ll need to block and deflect elemental projectiles from the various enemies in the area, deflecting them toward their corresponding elements' runes.Shriekers will shoot you with Void, Knights with Solar, and Witches withArc inDestiny 2.
Each element has three runes in this first area, soactivate each element with their element, then keep moving. In the next area, you’ll be informed that using the sword’s attack will summon a projectile of Hive light, which can be used to break the small orbs floating above each rune.Breaking these orbs will lower the shields surrounding the rune, allowing you to deflect more elemental Light toward them, activating the runes.

Moving on to the third location, Savathun will show up. Instead of using a sword to deflect projectiles and break runes, you have topick up elemental orbs from the various altars around the arena.Once you activate them all, you’ll lower Savathun’s shields enough to damage her.Damage her, then move to the next arena, repeating the mechanic until she retreats, ending the mission.
Speak to Micah-10, Cayde, and Ghost
Once you’ve loaded back into the Lost City, you’ll need to head into the building, down the stairs to talk to the projection of Micah-10 to pick up the quest “Convalescence: Rootbound,“which you can complete to gain progress towards the Microcosm Exotic. Talking to Cayde-6 will give you the “Wild Hunt” quest, which rewards you with the Still Hunt Exotic. Finally, return to your Ghost to pick up the “Lost in the Light” and “Found in the Dark” quests.
Lost in the Light
For"Lost in the Light,” you’ll need to head to The Landing, thengo north into the Refraction, where you will follow the HUD indicator to a Prismatic Chest with a new Light Ability. After opening the chest, you can start a new Adventure, “The Hollow, Part 1.“In this mission, defend Ghost as it hacks the Fallen terminal.
After defending Ghost, head into the caves indicated to destroy shield generators. There will be an Eater of Light Knight that spawns in the first area; kill it, thentake the Light Motes you pick up to the platform that resonates Darkness.Bank the Light motes into the Darkness platformand vice versato break the two shield generators.

Finally, you should kill the boss that spawns here, using the same Light/Dark Mote mechanic to break his shield generators and defeat him.Defeating the boss will allow you to loot another Prismatic chest, then send on to “The Hollow, Part 2.” This second part is a bit trickier, and you’ll be using Demolition Shanks to break open doors.
Kill enemies that try to blow the Shank upas it moves towards the door, then, once it stops, shoot it to break the door down. The second part of this Adventure requires you to summon Demolition sharks using orbs dropped by Servitors onto shielded enemies, breaking their shields and allowing you to kill them.

Finally, this shield break mechanic is used in the boss fight, breaking the boss' shields and killing him. After all this, you will be granted another Light ability and quest completion for “Lost in the Light.” Move to the Seclusion in the East of the Blooming, where you’ll begin “Found in the Dark.”
Found in The Dark
Follow the HUD marker again to find another Prismatic Chest, giving you a new Darkness Ability. After you’ve picked it up, begin the Adventure that appears, which is called “Home, Part 1.” You’ll need to find the Artillery Officers that spawn, taking their Antennae and planting them on a Shield Generatorto break Shadow Legion shields.
Do this a few times, and an Artillery Commander will spawn alongside somePrism-shielded Dread Omen enemies that must be killed first.Defeat these enemies, and you’ll be spawned back into the cave in front of another Prismatic Chest. Pick it up, then begin “Home, Part 2.”

You’ll arrive at the snowy mountain in the Pale Heart and be debuffed with Biting Cold.Stay in the heaters' areas of effect to stave off the cold, and find another heater before your timer reaches zero, or else you’ll die. In this mission, you have to melee Psions, then kill Honor Centurions that drop Unstable Power Units.
Using these Power Units, blow up all the shield generators.Keep doing this in the next area, then kill the Goliath Tank that spawns by shooting its legs. That’s all there is to “Found in the Dark,” so head back to the Lost City to move on.
Ergo Sum Exotic Quest: Queens, Part 2
This quest is pretty simple and shouldn’t take too long.Kill Taken to get the"Taken Empowered"debuff, then collect Fissures of Light and repeat. After two Tormentors spawn, take them down and end the mission! After you’re done, you’ll head back to the Lost City and talk to Ghost, who will give you a Dyadic Prism.
Once you’ve gotten the Prism, you’ll notice a new landing zone in the Pale Heart.Head to the Sacrarium and begin the Adventure here.It will take you to the location from the last mission of the campaign, and you need to interact with the veiled statue there to be given your very first Ergo Sum.
you’re able to get more copies of this sword with its many different rolls by completing Overthrows and finishing thefirst two Pale Heart Pathfinders each week.
Ergo Sum God Rolls: PvE and PvP
Ergo Sum has eight possible Exotic Perks, each coming from another pre-existing exotic in the game. Here they are:
Description
Wolfpack Rounds
Powered heavy attacks cause nearby Sword-wielders to emit tracking missiles with every attack.
Gathering Light
Final blows with this weapon grant stacks of Gathering Light, improving guard stats and lunge range. Stowing this weapon consumes all stacks, granting melee, grenade, and class ability energy.
Sacred Flame
Powered heavy attacks mark nearby targets, causing them to explode upon death. Striking marked targets with a Light attack detonates them.
The Perfect Fifth
Attach a delayed solar explosive that scorches your target for every five hits.
Arc Conductor
Powered heavy attacks charge the wielder, enabling them to resist Arc damage and chain lightning to nearby targets.
Stormbringer
Rapid final blows create a lightning storm at the target’s location.
Unplanned Reprieve
Powered heavy attacks emit projectiles that detonate with a delayed Void blast.
Insectoid Robot Grenades
Defeated targets drop insectoid robots that chase and explode close to other targets.
Of all these perks, a few are best in PvE. If you’re looking for a boss damage sword, almost any roll of Ergo Sum with Wolfpack Rounds will perform pretty well. This perk grants your allies sword swings rockets, similar to how Gjallarhorn provides rockets. This works with legendary swords like Falling Guillotine andspreads its buff to Exotic swords, making weapons like Lament especially good to synergize with one of these Ergo Sum rolls. Here is what that specific roll looks like:
Intrinsic
Wave Sword Frame or Caster Frame
If you’re looking to run Ergo Sum in PvP, you will need to look for something different. Unfortunately,Ergo Sum doesn’t seem to get ammo in PvP, so running this sword will be impossible. Until Bungie implements a fix or makes an announcement, you’re better off running a different weapon. If you like SMGs, consider trying out theLegendary SMG Perfect Pitch. No matter which weapon you use, there’s much to do and more to explore in the fantastic new story introduced inDestiny 2:The Final Shape.
