Forget Human Torch — The Thing’s Marvel Rivals MVP animation is “absolute cinema”
Ben Grimm, aka The Thing, is stealing the spotlight following Marvel Rivals’Season 1.5 update, as players are raving about a skin bundle and MVP animation that perfectly honor his classic comic book roots.
NetEase launched the update on February 19 complete with a wealth ofpatch notesdetailing all the new content added and a heap ofbuffs and nerfsfor different heroes.

It centered aroundThe Thingand theHuman Torchfrom the Fantastic Four making their debut, but it was Grimm’s bonus skin and MVP animation from his Trench Coat bundle that stole the spotlight.
Players can unlock an outfit featuring Ben Grimm in his iconic trench coat and hat disguise, a look straight out of the original Fantastic Four comic in 1961, that reflects his struggle to come to terms with his new identity as the big orange boulder.

If you manage to secure MVP as The Thing with his animation equipped, the short cut-scene puts him center stage—standing under a lone spotlight, jotting notes in his book before tucking it away, flipping a coin, tipping his hat, and strolling off like a true noir detective.
Marvel Rivals players obsessed with The Thing MVP animation
The praise poured in for his cutscene, “Officially the best MVP animation in the game,” one of the top comments read, as another said, “Netease you were supposed to make an MVP animation not absolute cinema”
It has also encouraged various players to buy their first skin, “I’m yet to buy a skin in rivals, but damn I might have to cop this,” one said.

“Bro is insane at aura farming. Might be the first skin I buy if I like playing him. Getting MVP on a brawler tank could be relatively easy,” one more echoed.
