Althoughleaked developmental footageand screenshots have given ussome hintsin regards to what we can expect to see gameplay-wise, Rockstar has remained mum about the next version of GTA Online.

Now, a new report has shed light on GTA 6 Online’s development and what players can expect once it finally launches.

GTA 6 reportedly looking to have 96-player sessions in new Online mode

According to a new report from French reporterFravilys, the next iteration of GTA Online, codenamed “GTA6MP,” is already in an advanced stage of development and will launch with support for up to 64 players per session.

That’s a notable jump from the current GTA Online, which launched in 2013 with 16-player lobbies and eventually expanded to 30 on next-gen platforms.

The new version reportedly features a revamped network system called Fluid Access, designed to eliminate the disconnect between sessions and allow players to seamlessly engage in multiplayer activities without loading screens or invite menus.

Cloud gaming was also originally considered for the project, but Stadia’s failure has reportedly cooled Rockstar’s plans in that direction, though services like Xbox Cloud Gaming are still being monitored.

Another major improvement is session fluidity: players will allegedly be able to interact across different sessions without leaving their own world, a huge leap from the current system’s limitations.

Expert claims GTA 6 hype “stalled” by Rockstar as fans want more

GTA 6 feature is now a big part of GTA Online, but not for everyone

While the goal is to eventually support up to 96 players, the current build is said to cap lobbies at 64, though that number could change before launch.

As always, development plans may shift, but this report suggests Rockstar is aiming to make GTA 6 Online the most seamless and ambitious multiplayer experience in the franchise’s history.

This report comes weeks after Fravilys claimed that Rockstar had turned down several different stories for GTA 6 becausethey were “too dark.”

As always, until we get confirmation from Rockstar, take this information with a grain of salt, but given how much money the company has made fromGTA Online, expect some huge upgrades by the time VI rolls out.
