Star Wars: Hunters - Release Date, Platforms, Characters, & Gameplay
Zynga’s Star Wars: Hunters finally has a release date after years of delays. Here’s everything we know about the game so far.
Does Star Wars: Hunters Have Cross-Play?
And How Does It Work?
Crossplay has become a much sought-after feature for many online games in recent years, due to the large number of players across different platforms. Whereas players used to be limited to playing with those on their own chosen platform in older console generations, massive titles and franchises such asFortniteandCall Of Dutyhave pushed for a way to unite their player bases, regardless of how they choose to game. Considering howNintendo was one of the early adoptersof the feature alongside Microsoft, it should come as no surprise that the feature is present on the Nintendo Switch inStar Wars: Hunters.
The official description onStar Wars: Hunters’Nintendo Switch eShoppage explains that “Star Wars: Hunters will connect players in real time via cross-play to battle in settings inspired by iconic Star Wars locales”, meaning players should be able to play with and against other players on Switch, iOS, and Android devices, regardless of who’s playing on what device. The process of teaming up is relatively simple too, asany player can be added as a friend by going to the Social tab and typing in their username in the Friends sectionof the menu. Once entered, players on friends lists can invite each other to their party to team up in different modes.

Star Wars: Every Upcoming Movie, TV Show, Game, Book, Comic, & More
Star Wars’ major releases across canon will be numerous in the next half-decade, from TV shows and films to books, novels, and video games.
Does Star Wars: Hunters Have Cross-Progression?
Star Wars: Huntersalso has cross-progression, meaning players can sync their game progress and pick up where they left off on their mobile devices if they’ve left their Switch at home. The officialZyngasupport website listed the steps to take to do this, but it seems as straight forward as just logging in with the same account email, Apple login or Google login to access cross-progression, and doing this is as easy as going to theSettingsbutton (which looks like a gear icon) in the top right corner of the game’s screen, going toAccountand choosing “Link Your Account”. Those who are using an account email instead of Apple or Google login will have to be verified by entering the verification code sent to the email in question.
As per the Zynga support page,Star Wars:Hunters does not require a Nintendo Switch Online membership to download and play, even if the eShop listing does say it supports Nintendo Switch Online features such as Online Play and the Save Data Cloud.

Zyngaalso explained that those players who don’t sign in will still be able to playStar Wars: Hunters, but only on a guest account. Unlike those who are signed in and registered, guest account players won’t be able to access their profile and progress on multiple devices, and therefore won’t be able to build up progression across sessions.
With the variety in ways to play over the years, gaming is more accessible than ever before, and so cross-play and cross-progression functionality seems like an essential feature for online titles to let players play on their preferred device and still team up with whoever they choose. Full cross-play can only enhance a co-op title such asStar Wars: Huntersby letting the largest possible group of players team up, and cross-progression is a great way to ensure a smooth gaming experience, letting players access the game wherever they are and keep progressing their favorite characters' skills.
