Summary
I have a better idea for whichSpider-Manshould have a crossover with Deadpool than the oneDeadpool & Wolverine’s director wants. Shawn Levy boards theMarvel Cinematic Universealongside Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman next month inDeadpool & Wolverine. The director could have a great future with the studio, asLevy is reportedly Marvel’s top choice to directAvengers 5. I would love that, asDeadpool & Wolverine’s trailers look incredible, and those, allied to Levy’s body of work, make him a great choice to helmfuture MCU movies.
Recently,Levy revealed that he would love to direct Deadpool & Spider-Man. While the director has made it clear that he has no knowledge of Marvel’s plans for another Wade Wilson movie afterDeadpool & Wolverine,Levy would be game to bring Reynolds’s Merc With a Mouth together with Tom Holland’s Spider-Man. With a solidMCU Spider-Man trilogyand Deadpool now joining the franchise, it would make sense that the director would choose Holland for the possible feature; however, I think another Spider-Man movie actor would work better alongside Reynolds' Deadpool.

I’m Excited About Tom Holland’s Spider-Man 4 Because Of An Impressive MCU Trend
Tom Holland will return to the MCU for Spider-Man 4, and based on a major trend of his Spider-Man trilogy, I can’t wait for his next MCU solo film.
I Want Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Man To Crossover With Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool
A More Mature Spider-Man Would Work Better
Sure, I would be there for the first showing of a Deadpool and Spider-Man movie with Reynolds and Holland as the leads; however,Andrew Garfield’s Peter Parker would be a better fit for a buddy movie with Deadpool. While Holland’s Spider-Man has made more quips than Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man and is as vibrant as the character is in the comics, Garfield can take that a step above. The Amazing Spider-Manmovies have their issues, but I firmly believe that Garfield is the most comic book-accurate Spider-Man when his Peter Parker is suited up.
The actor could deliver a more mature Spider-Man that would serve as an interesting counterpoint to Reynolds' over-the-top Deadpool, something that is working wonders in Deadpool’s dynamic with Jackman’s Wolverine in theDeadpool & Wolverinetrailers. However,Garfield could also tone up the humor and match Reynolds' banter beat by beat if need be, as his Spider-Man constantly poked fun at bad guys without thinking twice. Besides having the perfect balance of a mature, adult Spider-Man who is also vibrant enough to match Deadpool, Garfield’s hero could get close to Deadpool’s violence, once having stopped pulling his punches.

5 Things Andrew Garfield’s Amazing Spider-Man 2 Got Right
Andrew Garfield’s The Amazing Spider-Man 2 was overstuffed, but it was not a bad movie, as the film got some Peter Parker fundamentals right.
Why Tom Holland’s Spider-Man Would Be A Tough Sell For An R-Rated Deadpool Movie
Reynolds' Deadpool Thrives In The R Rating
I don’t think Tom Holland’s Spider-Man could really work in an R-rated crossover film with Ryan Reynolds' Deadpool. While the MCU’s Spider-Man has now graduated from high school,Holland’s version of Peter Parker is much more kid-oriented than the past two cinematic Spider-Men. Holland started playing Spider-Man when he was 18 years old, and his Peter Parker was 15. While the other two cinematic Spider-Men had films set in high school, that aspect of Peter Parker’s life was never as important to the identity of the character in live-action than in Holland’s Spider-Man trilogy.
I believe that, Avengers movies aside, any film where Ryan Reynolds stars as Deadpool should be R-rated, allowing the actor to make the most of his skills as the Merc With a Mouth.

Now that he is out of high school and on a much more tragic chapter in his life, perhaps that could make him a better fit for an R-rated Deadpool crossover. However, the status of Peter’s life in the MCU now that he is all alone would be better suited for a personal solo story than a major Deadpool two-hander where Spider-Man’s quips would have to come back in force. Also, despite becoming an adult, I think the MCU Peter Parker’s image is still tied to his young adventures, andan R-rated Deadpool crossover would mean a major tonal shift.
How Old Each Spider-Man Actor Was As Teenage Peter Parker
In each big-screen version, Spider-Man has been a high schooler, but the actors who played him weren’t exactly teenagers. Here’s how old they were.
Will A Deadpool & Spider-Man Crossover Movie Actually Happen?
Sony And Marvel Would Need To Work Things Out
Deadpool & Wolverinewas an easy movie to make because, as Marvel Studios inherited the rights to the Marvel characters Fox owned, both Deadpool and Wolverine were now free for Kevin Feige to use. Spider-Man is a different beast altogether. While Holland plays Peter Parker in the MCU,Sony owns the Spider-Man movie rights. Sony worked out a deal with Marvel that every Holland Spider-Man movie would have one MCU character in a sizable role, with Iron Man, Nick Fury, and Doctor Strange filling that pre-requisite.
However, there has never been a Spider-Man movie where Holland shared the lead role. InSpider-Man: No Way Home, where Garfield and Maguire came back as their versions of Spider-Man, the duo only appeared during the movie’s third act, then serving as co-leads. That said, Sony was the studio behind the actors' Spider-Man movies. For a Spider-Man and Deadpool crossover film to happen, Sony and Marvel would likely have to sit down and negotiate a new deal. Given the popularity of both characters, I believe that a Deadpool andSpider-Manmovie is possible, and Garfield is my pick for Spider-Man.

Deadpool & Wolverine
Cast
A follow-up to the highly successful Deadpool and Deadpool 2 films starring Ryan Reynolds as the Merc with a Mouth. The third film will be the first in the franchise to be developed under the Marvel Studios banner following Disney’s acquisition of 20th Century Fox.
Spider-Man 4
Spider-Man 4 is the first sequel to the MCU’s Spider-Man trilogy starring Tom Holland as the titular wall-crawler. After wiping his identity for the public’s memory in Spider-Man: No Way Home, Peter Parker continues his crime-fighting adventures without the aid of Iron Man technology or the support of his former allies.
