Lapras set to be “very OP” in new Pokemon TCG Stellar Miracle

Card reveal seasonfor Stellar Miracleis already in full swing and Pokemon TCG fans are in for a treat with this upcomingJuly 19release. Closely following theNight Wandererdrop and highlighting key Pokemon from theScarlet & VioletDLC, the sparkly set is looking impactful so far.

One key Pokemon card that was revealed today throughthe official Pokemon TCG Japanese YouTube channelisStellar Tera-typeLapras ex (019/102), which you can see in the image below alongside the new Hydrapple ex card.

As commented onby players online, this card holds the potential to be “very OP” and could act as a perfect example of the new Stellar Tera-type in Pokemon TCG matches. Working in a similar fashion to old-school Crystal Pokemon, these Tera ‘mons have access to some intriguing Attack sets.

As translated by PokeBeach, the first Attack on this card is Power Splash – a simple but punchy stacking Attack that does 40 damage for every Energy card attached to the Pokemon. Note that the Energy type is not specified in the card text as Stellar Tera-type Pokemon use all sorts of Energies.

The other Attack on this card is the non-damaging Larimar Rain, which allows players to check the top 20 cards of their deck, attach any number of Energy cards there to their Pokemon in any way they like, and shuffle the rest of the cards back into their deck.

Deck searches are powerful enough on standard cards –usually appearing on Supporters– but being able to check through 20 cards without a limit on how many Energies can be moved makes this Stellar Lapras a theoretical beast. There’s no limit on how high Power Splash can stack and it only costs 1 Energy.

Out of all the cards that were unveiled during this batch of reveals, Stellar Lapras ex got the biggest reaction from fans. One excited forum user praised it as “very cool” while others theorized about how tanky it could be during battle.

Other Stellar Miracle cards, like the Hydrapple ex, were met with mixed feelings. One Pokemon TCG player noted, “Hydrapple ex is the first time a card’s lack of viability has actively made me salty LOL” and compared the card toOgerpon exin the process.

It’s hard to say with certainty what these cards will look like in action, but based on the Attacks and Stellar Tera-typing for Lapras specifically, it’s safe to say that Stellar Miracle will be a fun set to rip into as a competitive Pokemon TCG player.
