Marvel roasted for its “horror” MCU Halloween trailer
With Halloween just around the corner, Marvel has released its “horror” MCU trailer – but the Disney-owned studio is getting roasted for it.
You could argue that2023 has been a full on horror show for the Marvel Cinematic Universe, with a series of flops such asSecret InvasionandAnt-Man 3destroying its winning streak.

However, the studio has had some hits this year.Guardians of the Galaxy 3was everything fans were promised and more, whileLoki Season 2continues to impress audiences and critics alike.
Whatever the case, one thing’s for certain: theMCUis probably the last studio you’d think of when it comes tohorror. Which is perhaps why it’s getting ridiculed for its new trailer.

To promote its various titles thisHalloween, Marvel Studios dropped a promo video comprising various spooky MCU clips, including the big bads and creepy elements from Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness andWerewolf By Night.

Other less obvious titles make an appearance too, such as Avengers: Endgame and Ant-Man. The studio shared the clip alongside the message: “This Halloween, visit the darkest corners of Marvel Universe. Stream these titles and more on @DisneyPlus.”
Although the clip works, some fans are ripping the MCU to shreds. “Horror in MCU….is that a joke,”wroteone on X/Twitter. “Should I be laughing?” Anotherquipped: “Everything about the current day MCU is horrific.”

“So nothing then,”jokeda third, while a fourthadded: “Don’t make me pull out the Spongebob on the kid roller coaster clip.” And a fifthchimed in: “Absolutely none of you have any idea what horror is.”

Why Marvel is skipping Comic-Con this year
Not everyone agrees with this sentiment, however, with many fans seeing it as a bit of fun. “Whoever edited this trailer together, bravo,”saidone. A second simplywrote: “This is an excellent promo.”
And then there are those who just want Marvel Studios to delve into more horror content, especially following the success of Werewolf By Night and the anticipation for the Blade reboot – could this be building to aMidnight Sonsmovie? Time will tell.
