In solicit information forUltimate Black Panther #8, fans get to see Moon Knight’s new armor -an armored black costume with a white hood, cloak and loin cloth, including a curved beak and glowing red eyes. The design evokes Khonshu’s depiction in Marvel Comics and the MCU, where he’s most often shown with a bird skull for a head.

While Moon Knight is a hero in Marvel’s main continuity, he’s decidedly avillain in Marvel’s new Ultimate Universe canon, with his crimes in Africa being opposed by Storm, Killmonger, Okoye and Black Panther. In the Ultimate Universe, ‘Moon Knight’ Is the Name of an Army, Not a Hero
Marvel’s new Ultimate Universe continuity launched in 2023 with Jonathan Hickman and Bryan Hitch’sUltimate Invasion. There, thesuper-genius villain known as the Makerescaped the mainstream Marvel Universe, traveling to the alternate reality of Earth-6160. Maker then used his advanced technology and extensive knowledge of Marvel history to break and reshape this reality’s timeline, creating a world where he is free to pursue his agenda of unhinged scientific experimentation. The Maker killed most of Marvel’s heroes and simply prevented the origins of others, whilesome powerful heroes were turned to the dark side, with Moon Knight and Hulk joining the Maker’s Council - a secret group who run this world on his orders.
In the Ultimate Universe,‘Moon Knight’ isn’t a person but rather a military group, commanded by Lord Khonshu and Lord Ra- two villains who trade control of the organization according to the phases of the moon. Lord Ra and Lord Khonshu control the Upper and Lower Kingdoms and recently began a campaign of conquest against West Africa, bringing the heroes of Wakanda into conflict with the desires of the Maker’s Council. As the king of Wakanda, Black Panther has had to decide whether to involve his country in the fight against Moon Knight, and now he’s officially taking the battle to its leaders. Indeed, Black Panther is seeking out new powers to strengthen his hand in the struggle.
Sadly, the Ultimate Universe has put Marvel’s traditional heroes at a huge disadvantage in this new world, with the Maker’s evil having effectively handed the world to the villains before the good guys even got started.
