Summary

Kyle McLusky showed great adaptability inMayor of Kingstownseason 3, and one storyline inMayor of Kingstownseason 3, episode 4 also sets up his career switch teased in theMayor of Kingstownseason 3 trailer. The aftermath ofMayor of Kingstownseason 1’s prison riots greatly affected Kyle, making it difficult for him to return to working at KPD.Mayor of Kingstownseason 2 began with Kyle starting his job with Michigan State Police, but it proved short-lived after the shootout with an intoxicated driver left everybody dead, including Kyle’s partner state trooper, beside Kyle and the baby.

Things didn’t improve for Kyle inMayor of Kingstownseason 2, as he struggled with being reintroduced to KPD and cleared for duty. The shootout left him unmoored, unsure if he wanted to return to KPD or share mayor responsibilities with Mike, and everything was made worse by the DA-backed IA investigation that wanted to get Robert for his riots conduct.Mayor of Kingstownseason 2’s finale worsened things even more for Kyle, as one of his bullets ended up hitting his and Mike’s mother Mariam, flooding him with guilt about the ordeal, but season 3 showed a different Kyle.

Kyle’s Actions In Mayor Of Kingstown Season 3 Showed Robert He Has Potential To Move To SWAT

Kyle Wasn’t Overtaken By His Feelings & Got The Guy To Surrender Without Violence

Mayor of Kingstownseason 3, episode 3 already showed Kyle being serious about potentially joining the SWAT team after voicing his wish to Robert in the season premiere. While Robert shot down Kyle’s idea inMayor of Kingstownseason 3, episode 1, Kyle kept up his training, andMayor of Kingstownseason 3, episode 4 showed him much more at ease with himself and the stress of the job. Indeed,Kyle’s interactions with the parolee who helped the second AB bomber escape showed him in control of his emotions, not as jumpy as inMayor of Kingstownseason 2.

While Ian and Robert both thought Kyle was reckless for approaching the injured parolee alone without knowing for sure if he had a weapon or not, Kyle kept his wits and led the parolee to cooperate. Robert and his SWAT team were ready to jump in, and yetKyle handled the situation in the best way possible, capturing the parolee inMayor of Kingstownseason 3, episode 4, without any gratuitous violencethat would have likely been used if Robert’s team apprehended him. Kyle’s approach thus showed he would be an amazing addition to Kingstown’s SWAT division.

Kyle & Robert’s Disagreement Hinted A SWAT Team Led By Kyle May Be Different

Kyle Joining SWAT Could Solve Many Problems In Kingstown

Kyle’s success and Robert’s disagreement with how he handled it, thinking he put himself in unnecessary danger, led to Kyle’s piqued comment aboutRobert’s behavior inMayor of Kingstownseason 3, episode 4.While Mike already complained about Robert’s tendency to resort to violence, Kyle hadn’t before, always supporting Robert’s workand even calling him and his team heroes inMayor of Kingstownseason 2. However, Kyle noticing Robert’s faults and wanting to change careers and join his team also hint at a possible change in the Kingstown SWAT team’s conduct.

Mayor of Kingstownseason 3’s trailer already showed Kyle as part of the SWAT team, suggesting that his career change might happen sooner rather than later. However, the tease coupled with Kyle’s comments against Robert’s conduct also hintedMayor of Kingstownseason 3 might have the SWAT team behave differently if it was headed by Kyle. Were that to happen, gratuitous violence could be reduced in Kingstown, letting at least one good thing come out of Kyle’s career change inMayor of Kingstown.
