Overwatch 2 players actually want more loot boxes – not less
The return of loot boxes inOverwatch 2has been a massive success, but there’s just one problem that players have pointed out — there aren’t enough.
Season 15was one of the single biggest updates ever to hit Overwatch, bringing newPerks for every characterand the usualBattle Passfull of skins. But on top of all that, it also marked the return ofloot boxesafter years of requests.

The feature was removed when the hero shooter went free-to-play with the release of the sequel, opting for a Battle Pass model instead. But following complaints that the Battle Pass alone wasn’t rewarding enough, they’ve made a comeback.
It’s a decision that’s been welcomed by the community with open arms, especially considering they’re completely free to unlock. However, the only issue is there aren’t enough of them

Overwatch 2 players are desperate for more loot boxes
Given that there’s no option to buy them with real money, players are calling for more opportunities to open loot boxes. Right now, they’re offered out through the Battle Pass, challenges, and event rewards, but there’s plenty of appetite for more.
“I want more loot boxes blizzard there are not enough ways the earn them,” said oneplayer onX. There are plenty of similar posts on Reddit, with oneplayerjoking that they “need” more and adding that they’re genuinely “disappointed by how little there are.”

More fans in the comments also agree, with many finding they’ve already “milked the game dry of currently available ones,” leaving them waiting for the next wave.

In fact, the demand is so high that players have begun suggesting new ways to earn them. For example, one fan argued that loot boxes should place the XP bonus you receive for queuing roles with low player counts.
Meanwhile, others argued they should be purchasable with Credits, which can only be earned in-game. This currency is normally used for lower-rarity skins and is fairly easy to accumulate, so many players would much rather spend it on loot boxes for the chance to receivebetter skins.
The good news is that Game Director, Aaron Keller, has promised that there will beover 100 loot boxes released during Season 15to celebrate their return. However, this number is set to be much lower in the next season.
But after such a positive response and with both new hero Freja and Stadium mode coming in Season 16, we’ll have to wait and see if they decide to ramp up the amount.
