Summary
Warning: Spoilers for Power Girl #10!One friendship with DC’s ultimate anti-hero is makingPower Girleven more of an outsider than she already is. Calling amember of the Superman Familyan outsider may sound counterintuitive, but because she comes from a different universe than her family members, she’s often felt separate from them, hence why she onlyofficially joined the family recently.
Power Girl#10 – written by Leah Williams, with art by Eduardo Pansica – features the eponymous hero embracing her status as an outsider by admitting to being friends with Harley Qunn. More than that,Power Girl refers to Harley Quinn as one of her closest friends in the DC Universe.

Considering Harley Quinn’s controversial position in the DC Universe in the eyes of other heroes, this friendship gives heroes even more of a reason to treat Power Girl like an outsider.
The friendship between Harley Quinn and Power Girl dates as far back as 2014’sHarley Quinn#10, when the former Cupid of Crime helped an unconscious Paige off the shores of Coney Island Beach.

The friendship between Harley Quinn and Power Girl dates as far back as 2014’sHarley Quinn#10,whenthe former Cupid of Crimehelped an unconscious Paige off the shores of Coney Island Beach after the latter crash-lands there. The next issue sees Harley tending to the wounds of an amnesiac Power Girl, leading directly into the six-part mini-seriesHarley Quinn and Power Girl.In classic Harley fashion, she does tell some white lies to Paige about them being best friends at the time.
When she got her memory back, Power Girl was understandably miffed with Harley Quinn for the lies she told her during her amnesia episode. Still, they remained friends after the ordeal, hence why both Power Girl and her cat Streaky can be seen in the background of the recentHarley Quinn#38 at Harley’s birthday party. However, one thing that cannot be overlooked is Harley Quinn’s current position in the DC Universe, whose anti-hero actions border so thinly between hero and villain thatshe divides the Justice Leagueon the matter.

Power Girl willingly claiming Harley as a friend could make her an even bigger outsider than she already feels she is.
Harley Quinn’s Questionable Actions Could Dampen Power Girl’s Reputation
It’s Not Easy Being Harley’s Friend
Harley Quinn is considered an outsider in the larger superhero community, and if the community doesn’t trust her, Power Girl willingly claiming Harley as a friend could make her an even bigger outsider than she already feels she is. Power Girl embraces being an outsider and being such has allowed her to befriend other outsiders, like Lobo’s daughter Crush for example. However, just as being an outsider has complicated her role in the Superman Family, it couldmake being a superhero harder forPower Girl, especially by befriending a figure as controversial as Harley Quinn.
