During the May 30PlayStationState of Play, which provided a look at 14 PS5 and PSVR titles, a new gameplay trailer confirmed the remake of the beloved psychological horror title would bereleased on July 19, 2025, exclusively on PS5 and Steam. All Horror Games Releasing In 2024 (PS5, Xbox, PC, Switch)
Following the strong horror game releases of the previous year, 2024 has a strong lineup of classic remakes and original releases to offer.
The Release Date Announcement Came Moments Before A Full Silent Hill Transmission
The Transmission Is Set To Provide A More In-Depth Look At The Franchise
Considering how beloved the original 2003 game was, there’s a lot riding on Bloober Team to doSilent Hill 2’s remake justice. Earlier trailers that took a more action-packed approach were criticized by fans for not encapsulating what the series is about, andBloober Team CEO Piotr Babieno even agreedwith this, stating that the previous trailer made by Konami’s marketing team didn’t capture “the spirit of what used to be, or what we’re creating now.”
While the new trailer also showed its fair share of over-the-shoulder shooting gameplay, it did attempt to focus more of the atmosphere ofSilent Hillas well. In particular, it opens with the scene where James meets Angela in a graveyard upon his arrival at the foggy town, setting up the eerie tone before descending into the depraved horror the series is known for.A further extended gameplay sequence was then shown at theSilent HillTransmission showcasethat followed on the officialSilent HillYouTube channel, which should hopefully serve as a better representation of Blooper Team’s final product.

TheSilent Hill 2remake’s October release date should come as little surprise to horror fans, as it is clearly targeting a Halloween release window. As revealed in theSilent HillTransmission, the standard and Deluxe Editions of the game are available to pre-order now on the PlayStation Store, with additional pre-order bonuses.
