Summary

The Officegets a new fan-made animated short, and it imagines Jim taking his Dwight pranks to gory new heights. Serving as an American remake of the British sitcom created by Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant,The Officefirst premiered on NBC in 2005. The show is largely centered around the antics of eccentric boss Michael Scott (Steve Carell), but a key element of the show throughout its 9-season run is also the contentious dynamic between Jim (John Krasinski) and Dwight (Rainn Wilson), with the former constantly pranking the latter.

A fan-made video shared bypiemationson Instagram now imagines Jim’s prank rivalry with Dwight turning violent. Check out the video below:

In contrast to some of Jim’s more light-hearted and elaborate pranks, the comedic short sees the character decide that stabbing Dwight will make for a killer new office gag. Dwight then retaliates by stabbing Jim, and then both characters, with Michael’s help, end up stabbing Toby.

Did Jim’s Pranks On The Office Ever Go Too Far?

How Much Did Dwight Really Deserve?

While Jim never resorts to stabbing his coworkers for office entertainment, some of his behavior is certainly questionable for the workplace. Most of the pranks are pretty harmless. Putting Dwight’s stapler in Jell-O, for example, is his first everDwight prank onThe Office, and it’s not one to get too up in arms about. As the show goes on, however, Jim’s pranks become more elaborate and evidently more frustrating to the person being pranked.

One Jim “prank” that immediately stands out as being pretty mean-spirited happens in season 7 when he brings a snowball into the office and throws it into Dwight’s face. While Dwight was being sarcastic and rude to Jim moments before, it’s hardly behavior deserving of taking a snowball to the face. While not one directed at Dwight, Jim’s prank on Andy of hiding his phone in the ceiling is also pretty rude, especially because he doesn’t come clean about it. In many ways, Jim’s immaturity would make him annoying to work with.

The Office Prank That Backfired On Jim

One of the more memorable parts of The Office was when Jim pranked Dwight, but there is one time when things spectacularly backfired on Jim.

Of course,The Office’s castof characters are far from perfect individuals, and Dwight arguably gets what’s coming to him by being someone who would clearly be insufferable to work beside for years on end. Plus, the two characters end up making amends by theend ofThe Office, and Jim even redeems himself when a whole episode is dedicated to his “gutenpranks,” pranks that are ultimately surprising gestures of kindness. While some of Jim’s pranks throughout the show do perhaps go a little too far, thankfully the characters never resorted to stabbing.
