The Witcher 3 is getting one final patch 10 years after it was released
Over a decade after its original release,The Witcher 3, CD Projekt RED’s acclaimed RPG, is getting one final patch to add a long-awaited feature.
Announcing the news in a May 30blog post, the developer confirmed that Xbox Series X|S, PS5, and PC versions of Geralt’s third outing will receive cross-platform mod support sometime in 2025.
As of writing, mod support for The Witcher 3 is currently only available on PC versions of the game. Once the patch goes live, all three platforms will be able to use and share mods.
While this means console versions will be able to use mods created on PC, though, they won’t be able to create them. Likewise, some mods may be unavailable on Microsoft and Sony’s platforms due to “specific content guidelines.”

Currently, there’sno specific release date for The Witcher 3’s final patch. CD Projekt RED’s blog post only confirms thatthe update will be available in 2025, “later this year.”
“Later this year, we will release one more patch for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. This update will introduce cross-platform mod support across PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S via mod.io,” the developer said.
It’s worth noting that last-gen versions of The Witcher 3, namely Xbox One and PlayStation 4, won’t be included, nor will the Nintendo Switch. Likewise, the patch won’t prevent PC users from continuing to use other popular mod services such as Nexus Mods and Steam Workshop.
After taking a break from the series to work onCyberpunk 2077, CD Projekt RED officially announced TheWitcher 4 at the 2024 Game Awards. The fourth entry will feature Ciri as the main character instead of Geralt.
