Today’s Connections Category Hints
JUNE 17 #371
Sending out mail is one of the more traditional ways to makeConnectionswith other humans, but for those who just want to make word connections, here are the categories for today:
SEND
SHIP
This one stood out right away as soon as we saw MAIL and POST. There was a day when we all feared never receiving physical mail again, but now all the mail carriers that survived are out as people SEND and SHIP packages from their favorite online stores all over the world. This is good, because receiving something I bought instills the fun of opening packages into otherwise monotonous mail days.
LINER
STAIN
This category was also fairly clear, but perhaps might not be as clear to more masculine friends. BALM smoothens your lips, GLOSS makes them shiny, LINER makes them stand out and STAIN keeps them one color for a very long time. The real trick is not licking the more flavorful lip glosses off your lips because mom always said that was bad for your stomach.
8 NYT Tiles Strategies To Score Huge Combos
The Tiles game for the New York Times mobile app asks you to use various strategies to pair matching visual patterns together to build huge combos.
HOLE
SPOT
If you are in a SPOT of a bother, or a HOLE you need to dig yourself out of, you are likely in a bit of a FIX or a tight CORNER. The English language has a lot of different words for being in trouble, as it turns out. Perhaps that speaks more to how we got to this point or how penchant we are for trouble than we would particularly like.
EDUCATION
TEMPERATURE
This one was a little tricky but having only the leftover words left made it simpler. It also felt fairly clear that CRIME and TEMPERATURE did not fit with any other words, although ANGLE might fit with HOLE and LINER in more specific contexts. That left EDUCATION, which is itself in a fix, but otherwise only really fit with these otherwise misfit words.
