WhileIron Manmay be known more for his technological innovations than sports fandom, a cosplay is making Tony Stark a baseball superfan. A University of Georgia-inspired mash-up from @atlanta_ironman is delivering a Marvel twist on the college’s athletics. This is great for combining fandoms, but it also shows some stunning looks to showcase the hero’s own school spirit.

On Instagram, @atlanta_ironman shared their incredible cosplay, which was photographed by @geekykokopuff. Iron Man is a popular costume choice and the sleek silhouette of the suit gives it great versatility when it comes to mash-ups and visual overlays of alternate color combinations.

Iron Man’s signature color combination is red and gold, which blends well with the University of Georgia’s white, black, and red. Tony has been known to have suit variations, as have his allies, such as War Machine whose design takes inspiration from thebase Iron Man suit. This variation also adds some bonus components.

With this cosplay, @atlanta_ironman has presented a primarily white and black color combination. The University of Georgia logo is visible on the upper thigh of one leg. It also features the number 85 in the middle of the chest plate, which can be a throwback to the university’s founding in 1785 and the baseball team’s start a hundred years later, in 1885. A smaller version of the UGA insignia is included as part of a styled dog-collar matching the bulldog mascot of the school. The helmet coloration of this Iron Man suitis largely the same with the chest having a red underlayer, though the helmet also adds a white center stripe that accentuates the red glowing eyes.

Though Iron Man isn’t often seen in sports-inspired looks, Tony is very flashy and wouldn’t be beyond showcasing his fandom in his suits. This is especially true since he doesn’t often shy away from the spotlight. If he were to commit to a team, he’d be one of the most invested fans. This suit would also make Iron Man an absolute powerhouse on the baseball diamond. Were the Avengers to match-up against other Marvel hero teams, there would be a great game unlike any that has been played before.Captain America is a known baseball fan, which would likely make choosing a team captain its own civil war.

This cosplay by @atlanta_ironman brings together two worlds that collide on occasion. Marvel has had partnerships with the MiLB (Minor League Baseball) for Marvel’s Defenders of the Diamond promotional events as well aswith the Cincinnati Reds. Nonetheless, there aren’t many opportunities for Iron Man to step up to the plate. This creative cosplay showcases how incredible Tony’s skills would look if applied to baseball and fandom. It also proves thatIron Man’ssuit is one of the most versatile superhero costumes in Marvel Comics with lots of potential for unexpected mash-ups.
