Summary

Warning: Contains SPOILERS for Wolverine: Blood Hunt #1!Wolverineboasts a number of useful powers associated with his mutation, including heightened senses, a healing factor, and razor-sharp claws. And with this otherwise obscure ability,Wolverine may be humanity’s last hope in the face of total annihilation.

In a preview forWolverine: Blood Hunt#1 by Tom Waltz and Juan José Ryp, Logan is sitting alone at a bar, waiting for an old friend who’s supposedly meeting Wolverine there to discuss the current global conflict, and come up with a plan of attack. Instead, Wolverine is accosted by a squadron of soldiers, who don’t waste any time in launching a full assault against the X-Men member. And each of these soldiers has been turned into vampires.

Wolverine kills one of them easily enough, though his conscience forces him to hold back rather than going full berserker and wiping out the entire squadron in seconds. With this brief reprieve, the vampire soldiers steady themselves for another attack, with the leader telling the others, “mutie’s got healing powers. Don’t waste time tryin’ to turn him!”.

Wolverine Gives His Official (& Very Surprising) Verdict on X-Men’s 2019-2024 Krakoan Era

Wolverine has held a strong opinion about Krakoa that he’s expressed throughout the X-Men’s five-year Krakoan Age, making his final verdict shocking.

Wolverine is Immune to Vampirism Thanks to His Healing Factor

Right now in Marvel Comics canon, the main overarching event that’s impacting every major hero and villain the Marvel Universe is Blood Hunt, which details how vampires are making a play for world domination led by the former Avenger who evidently broke his pledge to eradicate the vampiric threat facing humanity: Blade. Blade orchestrated a plot that saw the release of immense darkforce energy that blocked out the sun, allowing vampires to roam the Earth at any time of the day unharmed.

Blade has already neutralized the Avengers with his Bloodcoven(which are superhuman vampires), and now it seems he has his eyes set on taking down Wolverine before the mutant hero even joins the fight. However, unlike other heroes like Black Panther who can be turned into vampires, Wolverine is immune to vampirism thanks to his healing factor. Any other day, that aspect of his powers would go virtually unnoticed, but now, it’s absolutely essential.

Wolverine is Lucky Vampires are Attacking the Marvel Universe, & Not Zombies

Weapon X-Men#1 by Christos Gage and Yildiray Çinar

Blood Hunt may have confirmed that Wolverine is immune to vampirism, but the same is not true for some strains of a zombie virus - including the one from the iconic Marvel Zombies storyline.

Marvel Zombiesfamously featured a zombified Wolverine, but it wasn’t untilWeapon X-MenthatWolverine gave verbal confirmation that his healing factor was useless in combating the zombie virus. Before then, it could have been possible that Wolverine’s healing was taken away before infection, or this multiversal variant of Wolverine never had one to begin with. But, thanks toWeapon X-Men, readers learn that the healing factor was, indeed, unable to fight off zombie infection. In other words, it’s a good thing vampires are attacking the Marvel Universe inBlood Hunt, and not zombies.

Wolverine admitting his healing factor doesn’t protect against zombie virus.

Regardless of how Wolverine would fare against a horde of zombies based on previous examples, the main takeaway here is that Logan’s healing factor keeps him from getting turned into a vampire. While one particularWhat If?storyline featuring Wolverine as Lord of the Vampireswould argue that point, the main Marvel Comics canon confirmsWolverineis safe from infection, making this otherwise obscure power absolutely essential.

Wolverine

The human mutant Wolverine (a.k.a. Logan) was born James Howlett, blessed with a superhuman healing factor, senses, and physiology. Subjecting himself to experimentation to augment his skeleton and claws with adamantium, Logan is as deadly as he is reckless, impulsive, and short-tempered. Making him the X-Men’s wildest and deadliest member, and one of Marvel Comics' biggest stars. He’s played in Fox and Marvel’s movie franchises by Hugh Jackman.
